Buying Guide

USB Speakers | PC Speakers | Laptop Speakers

With today’s technology advancements, computer speakers are now an essential part of a computer. With speakers, you are able to listen to music, receive voice messages and make calls through the computer. When deciding on computer speakers, you should consider audibility, compatibility to your computer, size, appearance, strength and availability. Some users also consider the power consumption of the speakers.

Computer speakers have a wide range in both price and quality. They are usually packaged together with computer systems. PC speakers tend to be smaller boxes with average sound quality. Some of the better speakers contain equalization features such as treble and bass controls that improve sound quality. Many computer owners are using their computers for many things today, including listening to music and watching movies and still using the speakers that came with the computer. When better sound is needed, many users are turning to USB computer speakers.

There are so many different types of computer speakers available today, but as with most everything you buy, you will get what you pay for. They have become so popular for computers for three specific reasons: convenience, performance and affordability.

1. Convenience. USB Speakers no longer need to be plugged into an outlet. They can now be plugged into a USB port and automatically work. They are also portable, can be carrying around and can also be used as laptop speakers.

2. Performance. There are many brands of USB speakers competing in today’s market. This means that companies have to continue working hard to make the best speakers to provide to consumers.

3. Affordable. The large amount of competition leads companies to lower their prices on USB speakers. Even the top quality speakers are now very affordable because companies are trying to attract more customers.

A USB speaker relies on a USB connection from the computer to provide both power and audio. Audio is sent through the USB interface and power is provided within the USB connection. There is no separate power adapter when powered through the USB cable. This type of computer speaker has a headphone socket to plug in headphones and also looks good sitting on a desk.

Laptops have also become very popular among computer users. Today, most laptops are made with built-in speakers. Some of the more thin laptops do not have built-in speakers and often a microphone and speaker jack is installed. While most newer computers are made with basic speakers, choosing to upgrade them can enhance your total audio experience. Years ago, choosing speakers for your computer was easy, there were not a lot of options available and sound was an afterthought. That has greatly changed today; many very popular and well-respected manufacturers are in the computer speaker game.

Before purchasing any new set of speakers, it is a good idea to spend time on what type you need for your computer’s sound system. Today, the very popular USB speakers are being used for both PC speakers and laptop speakers. They can be found in retail stores, electronics stores and online stores. It is important to shop around and compare prices to make sure you are getting the most for you money.
